Auto Carburetor Tuning Information

A carburetor's function is to regulate and maintain the correct mixture of fuel and air that is in proportion to the load on the engine. It is an essential a part of a car and needs to be tuned in a scientific way at regular intervals if you want the most out of your vehicle. Internal combustion engines have a carburetor and it plays a vital role in regulating the fuel and air that flows into the engine. The fuel burns within the engine turning into a gas which is distributed to parts of the engine making it move.

A poorly tuned carburetor will not run the engine smoothly and will affect the performance of the car. Cars are regularly tuned to see that the running is smooth and the owners get the most out of their vehicle. The carburetor in itself is simpler piece of equipment compared to the fuel injection system. The correct level of fuel should be just around the base of the sight hole. In cases where the fuel does not slowly flow out of the sight hole, the driver should adjust the float accordingly. In cases where there is leak of gas or where there is a leaking of fuel from the carburetor, the seat assembly and needle is not right. The top needs to be taken off without disturbing the float bowl. Good carburetors are manufactured with precision with attention given to the way it functions without ever compromising on safety.

Do not ever exchange the primary and secondary floats. The level of the back float is lower than that of the front one. This is done with the purpose of preventing fuel from trickling out and flowing into the mouth of the carburetor when the car is frequent sharp braking. The time when the pressure should be checked is when there the fuel pressure is too high or there is gas flowing out due to a faulty float or valve. The pressure can vary from 4 psi to 7psi. If the fuel pressure is okay, then the problem is the valve or the float. Tuning is a necessity today that needs to be addressed in time. It's a priority if you want optimum performance for your vehicle.
